Anesthesia Options

Here at Central Washington Oral & Facial Surgery, we want your treatment to be as safe and comfortable as possible. Your options for anesthesia will be a decision between you and your oral surgeon and will depend on your health history, personal preference, and the type of the surgical procedure. Your options will be reviewed during your surgical consultation.

Types of Anesthesia

We offer several types of anesthesia or sedation, including

  • Local Anesthesia. This type of anesthetic is injected directly into the site to numb the area. Local anesthesia can be used with other types of sedation, such as laughing gas.

  • Laughing Gas. Patients who would like to feel more relaxed during their procedure but still want to remain conscious can opt for laughing gas. It is often used in conjunction with local anesthesia.

  • Intravenous (IV) Sedation. IV sedation allows the patient to enter a sleep-like state throughout the procedure. IV sedation is a common anesthetic option for patients undergoing procedures such as wisdom teeth removal, dental implant placement, and more.

  • Hospital- or Surgery Center-Based General Anesthesia. For more extensive procedures, such as orthognathic surgery or facial trauma treatment, general anesthesia may be administered in a hospital or surgery center. This type of anesthesia will be administered by an anesthesiologist.
